Meet Chloe Sheppard. She’s a 19-year-old film photographer living in the UK, making zines and being fashionable.
Galore decided to catch up with Instagram’s most ethereal photographer to talk about “She’s Not Me,” Chloe’s latest zine celebrating teenage-hood. Smart and talented? Check!
Below, Chloe shares industry advice and even her biggest tip for healthy skin.
Galore: Tell us about your zine!
Chloe Sheppard: My zine “She’s Not Me” was pretty much just a collection of photos that I really loved and that have special meanings to me shot throughout 2015. It was my last year as a teenager, and I wanted to create something that would commemorate that.
What’s some of the best advice you were given when you were just starting out?
CS: Probably just to always take photos that mean something to me. If I like my work that’s all that matters, it’s just a bonus if people resonate with it and begin to love it too.
On a scale of prude to nudist beach enthusiast, where do you stand?
CS: Total nudist beach enthusiast.
Do you think Leonardo Dicaprio will win an Oscar this year?
CS: I really hope so. I feel like this is one of those situations where he’ll probably tragically die before the next Oscars or something and everyone will be like “Ahhh if only we gave him one while he was still alive.” I don’t know. His recent movie, “The Revenant,” definitely deserves one though.
What’s your favorite David Bowie song?
CS: I’d have to say it’s “It Ain’t Easy.” Whenever I listen to that song I feel like I’m in a different era.
Which artists and/or musicians would you want to make up your dream team entourage?
CS: My dream team would literally just consist of Lana Del Rey and myself. I’m totally in awe of her. Her art blows my mind constantly and I think she’s just such a beautiful person. To work alongside her would be surreal to me.
What nail polish color would you be?
CS: Baby blue, for sure.
What’s your biggest tip to healthy skin?
CS: My skin is actually something I get complimented on a lot! I really try and take care of it. But I’d have to say, the one thing that helps my skin the most is drinking water. I always make sure to have at least 2 liters a day. I use a few creams occasionally too, but I think the amount of water I drink definitely plays the biggest part in my clear skin.
Do you have an emergency pimple fixer?
CS: Nothing ever works for me. But worst comes to worst, cover it with glitter or a jewel. Always a good look.
What projects are you working on at the moment?
CS: At the moment I’m still just shooting with new people constantly and building up my portfolio. I’m getting more into filmmaking, so I’m trying to put together a short movie which I’m hoping will work out!
