Raw Footage is about to be the official cult movie of 2016.
Brought to you by best friends Abeline Cohen and myself, the half scripted and half reality film takes you on a journey through the present lives of real friends in New York. It’s about prescription pill abuse, Instagram, falling in unrequited love, and the PTSD of witnessing disasters which only New Yorkers can understand.
Raw Footage showcases the deceitful outlooks that both boys and girls perpetuate in contemporary culture through social interactions and new technology. It celebrates a controversial, and in some ways admirable, sacrifice of privilege for the more exotic social interactions we often loathe. From sexuality to vulnerability to self-surveillance, this film exposes a new reality. One where feelings inevitably get caught.
It’s hard to know what’s real and what isn’t these days. It’s easy to blur our own boundaries and get lost. But with a little help from friends, it all becomes okay.
There are no boundaries in the world of Raw Footage. And it’s premiering for one night only, Saturday, September 10th at 9pm. “Come play with us,” said Cohen.
